My love for fashion began in the vibrant streets of Syria, where colorful fabrics and traditional dresses filled every celebration. As a child, I spent countless hours playing dress-up in my mother’s high heels and watching her transform old clothes into beautiful new designs. These early moments, surrounded by fabrics, buttons, and zippers, planted the seeds of a lifelong passion for style, creativity, and craftsmanship.
That passion followed me through war, exile, and new beginnings. From studying fine arts in Damascus to working in ateliers across Lebanon and Turkey, I carried with me the dream of building something meaningful. When I arrived in the Netherlands, I discovered a fashion scene rooted in sustainability — a value I had long believed in. Today, Yara Kanaan Atelier is the result of that journey: a space for slow fashion, ethical practices, and designs that tell stories of resilience, heritage, and purpose.
To redefine sustainable fashion by creating timeless, ethically crafted pieces that empower and inspire.
We are committed to slow fashion that honors the earth and the people behind each piece — through education, empowerment, and mindful creation.
At Yara Kanaan Atelier, every garment is tailor-made with high-quality, sustainably sourced materials. We embrace heritage techniques — like embroidery using silk and milk threads or hand-stitching with natural-dyed cotton and stones — to create modern pieces with soul.
Our designs maximize fabric usage and repurpose every scrap to reduce waste.
We prioritize natural, upcycled, and certified fabrics that are gentle on the planet.
We use plant-based and low-water dye methods to avoid toxic chemicals and protect ecosystems.
“I believe every piece of clothing tells a story — of where it came from, who made it, and why it matters. Thank you for being part of this journey. Together, we can shape a fashion industry rooted in beauty, ethics, and hope.”
